Voice Call Outcomes and Definitions

There are multiple possible outcomes from your Voice campaign:

  • Answered by a person, hung up before end of message – The person hung up before the initial message was completely played
  • Answered by a person, listened to message – The person listened to the whole initial message but then disconnected (for instance they pressed 1 to confirm they were the right person)
  • Answered by a person, transfer initiated to call centre – The person answered the phone and requested transfer to the call centre or a transfer was initiated via call blast
  • Answered by a person, transfer initiated to payment line – The person answered the phone and requested transfer to the payment line
  • Answered by answer machine, message left – An answer machine was detected and a message was successfully played
  • Answered by answer machine, no message left – An answer machine was detected and a message was not left
  • Answered by answer machine, SMS sent – An answer machine was detected, no message was left but an SMS message was sent
  • Answerphone – An answer machine was detected but we were unable to leave a message
  • Engaged – The number was engaged
  • No Answer – The number rang but was not answered
  • No answer, SMS sent – The number rang but was not answered; an SMS message was sent
  • Unobtainable – The number is a dead number
  • Temporarily Unobtainable – Most likely to be a dead number however the number has not yet been classified as completely ceased. The number will not be retried again in the campaign but you should not automatically assume it will not connect in future
  • Temporarily Unable to Connect – The number is most likely live however at the time of calling we were unable to connect. The call will be retried as though it was a no answer
  • Connection Error – The call could not be connected due a network error however we could not determine the nature of the error. The call will not be retried
  • Not Dialled, Blacklisted – The number or record was not dialled as it was blacklisted from one of our other services
  • Fax – A fax machine was detected and the call was ended and will not be retried. This is applicable to both landline and mobile numbers
  • Unknown – An outcome was detected that we are not currently able to determine.
